Designing a skincare routine from scratch
Hello my dearest muñeca… can I give you some tough love? Come closer…your skin? It’s begging for a little TLC. We are building you a skincare routine from scratch, and it's gonna be sexy, divine even!
You ready? Let’s dive in.
Step One: Know Thy Skin
Before you slap anything on that gorgeous mug, you gotta know what you’re working with. Are you dry, oily, both?
Here’s the quick-and-dirty:
Dry skin: Feels tight, flakes, and begs for hydration.
Oily skin: Shiny all over, prone to breakouts, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin).
Combination skin: Large pores and oil limited to the T-zone. Dry on the periphery.
Sensitive skin: Easily irritated. Needs gentle, loving care—you tender little lamb <3
Balanced skin: Breakout free, hydrated, low-maintenance. Some may have called it “normal” in the days of yore, but moralizing acne is not hot.
Not sure? Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, wait 30 minutes, and see how it feels. Still confused? Get your ass to a dermatologist, neeow.
Step Two: The Core Four—Keep it vanilla
We’re not doing 12 steps unless it’s AA or your fiber supplement-douche-wax pre-pole ritual. Keep it vanilla. Save the fun for later.
Cleanser – To get the grime, makeup, and sins of the day off your face.
Moisturizer – Keeps your skin plump, juicy, and touchably soft.
Sunscreen (AM only) – The sun is hot, skin damage is not.
Treatment serum (optional at first) – A targeted product for your main skin concern (acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, etc.). This could be retinol, vitamin C, or niacinamide. Diva’s choice.
1. Cleanser:
Morning and night. Get yourself a cleanser that suits your skin type.
Dry skin: Cream or oil cleansers are your best friends.
Oily/acne-prone: Look for gel or foaming cleansers with salicylic acid.
Sensitive: Keep it gentle. No scrubs, no fragrance.
2. Moisturizer: Hydration is a Lifestyle
Hydrated skin is happy skin. Okay?
Dry skin: Go for thick, creamy moisturizers with ceramides.
Oily skin: Try a lightweight, gel-based formula. Yes, even oily skin needs moisture.
Combo skin: Use different textures on different areas, or find a nice mid-weight cream.
Apply it after cleansing, while your skin’s still damp, and let it work its magic.
3. Sunscreen:
SPF isn’t optional—it’s mandatory. Every day.
UVA and UVB rays don’t care if it’s cloudy, if you’re inside, or if your hangover's still doing the cha-cha. They will age you faster than a bad breakup. So find an SPF 30 or higher, broad-spectrum, and slather it like you mean it.
Reapply every 2 hours if you're out and about. Bonus points if you find one that doesn’t leave a white cast.
4. Treatments: The Sexy Extras
Now that your skin’s got a basic rhythm, you can add some spice.
Acne: Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, niacinamide.
Hyperpigmentation: Vitamin C, alpha arbutin, azelaic acid.
Wrinkles/Fine Lines: Retinol, peptides, glycolic acid
Texture/Glow: AHAs like glycolic or lactic acid, exfoliating toners.
But listen closely: introduce one new product at a time, and use it 2–3 times a week at first. If your skin starts screaming, back off. We want glow, not meltdown.
Step Three: Be Consistent
Skincare takes commitment. You can’t expect results overnight just because you slapped on a $90 serum. Get used to doing your routine every morning and night. Be sure to giive products a full skin cycle (4–6 weeks) before judging them.
And remember: less is more. Over-exfoliating, product layering, and chasing trends will leave your skin confused.
Step Four: Treat Yourself
Once or twice a week, throw in something extra. A face mask to hydrate, a chemical peel to smooth, or a jade roller for the drama. Light a candle. Play some Charli. Make it a ritual. Because your skin deserves to be courted.
Last Thoughts
Skincare isn’t just about products—it’s about consistency. It’s self-care with a side of seduction. When your skin glows, you strut differently. Your confidence? Unstoppable. Your aura? Irresistible.
So get your products in order, make a routine that makes you purr. Whether you're heading to the club, the office, or just FaceTiming your sneaky link—show up glowing.
Now go forth and moisturize, my beautiful, dewy muñeca. I believe in you.
