Top 5 skincare mistakes you’re probably Making

1. Sleeping in Your Makeup

You’re still falling asleep with your face beat? Girl… stand up! Makeup is not meant to marinate overnight. It’ll clog your pores and invite acne. Is that really what you need after a night full of bad decisions?

Fix It: Double cleanse. I said DOUBLE. First, use an oil cleanser to melt that mug, then a gentle foaming cleanser to wash away the night's sins. Pat dry with a clean towel, and moisturize. Your pillow deserves better, and so do you.

Pro Tip: If that’s too much to do after stumbling home at two in the morning, makeup wipes are an acceptable replacement. Sure, they get a lot of hate online, but it’s better than nothing. And I’m not telling on you!

2. Skipping Sunscreen

Sun damage is not only not sexy, but also dangerous. UVA rays can pass through windows, so you still need sunscreen even if you’re working from home! You can spend all the money on anti-aging creams, but you're wasting your money if you skip SPF.

Fix It: SPF 30 or higher. Every. Single. Day. Rain or shine, shade or spotlight. Don’t forget your neck, ears, and that decadent décolleté. You’ll thank me when you’re 60 and still being carded at the club.

3. Thinking “Natural” Means “Better”

Coconut oil on your face? Baking soda scrub? Just because it’s natural doesn’t mean it belongs on your face. Poison ivy is natural, too, but we’re not rubbing it on our cheeks, are we?

Fix It: Trust dermatologists, not DIYs. There are fabulous ingredients—like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and peptides—that are scientifically proven to work. Natural is cute, but effective is sexy.

4. Over-Exfoliating

Do you exfoliate every day? Twice a day?! No, ma’am! You’re scrubbing away your barrier and wonder why you’re red, flaky, and sensitive.

Fix It: Exfoliate 2-3 times a week, max. And be gentle. Think lace gloves, not Brillo pad. Use a chemical exfoliant (like AHAs or BHAs) and give your skin time to renew.

5. Switching Products Every Week

You’re not a scientist, and this ain’t a lab. If you’re slapping on a new serum every five business days because TikTok told you it was “holy grail,” stop it. STOP. IT. Your skin needs consistency, not chaos.

Fix It: Give a new product an entire skin cycle— 4 to 6 weeks— to show results. Exceptions are an allergic reaction, so abort the mission immediately! Don’t just follow trends; follow what your skin is telling you. She's talking, diva—are you listening?

Final Thoughts

Skincare isn’t just about products, it’s about intention.

Get yourself a routine that respects your beauty. Cleanse with purpose, moisturize with love, and SPF like your future depends on it—because it does. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s consistency.

Now go forth and glow, muñeca.
